Wilco’s seventh disc, Wilco, The Album, combines the intimacy of its previous releases Sky Blue Sky with the peregrination of A Ghost is Born and a band cohesiveness not heard since Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. This compilation of Wilco’s sonic travels makes the self-titled album especially apt after a decade of record label turmoil, line-up changes, family life, medical issues, addictions and coping with fame – Jeff Tweedy and Co. seem to have gained a sense of calmness, maturity and solidarity as a band. Wilco, The Album features a looser, more confident sound; a must for Wilco fans.
