To date Phil Elverum’s (The Microphones) Mount Eerie released two hauntingly beautiful, lo-fi, lyrically dense fuzzy folk records. On the latest, Wind’s Poem, Elverum takes Mount Eerie in different direction that is darker with droning, ambient sounds and black metal influences, resulting in heavy distortion, waves of synth, and foggy bass. Elverum recorded Wind’s Poem in various locations around his hometown of Anacortes, WA with Nick Krgovich (No Kids) contributing some harmonies. This album is more abstract than past albums – Mount Eerie’s mood finally matches the gloomy, brooding themes.
