Honey Clouds’ recent release Fall on the Honey Clouds, comes two years after its Earl Grey Demos, which gave us a taste of their sharp songwriting and indie rock sensibility. Seven of the songs on Demos are on this release, and naturally, Fall on the Honey Clouds is a much more polished sounding album. Opening track “Living Room” starts off fast with a joyous chorus of “nah-nah-nahs,” while singer-guitarist Trey Hughes’ vocals become more drawn out and spoken, à la Stephen Malkmus, on “Bright Green,” which has some terrifically noisy guitars. Hughes and lead guitarist Ron Harrity create some great moments together, along with lovely backing vocals and bass from Mandy Wheeler and drums from Sean Wilkinson. – Written by DBosket
