North Carolina’s Woody Pines is a natural performer steeped in traditional Americana music, bringing a polished mix of ragtime, country blues and folk in his new album Counting Alligators. Independently released and co-produced by Gill Landry (Old Crow Medicine Show), “Counting Alligators” features guest appearances from Henry Westmoreland (Squirrel Nut Zippers) and Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show). Pines’ latest collection is comprised of five originals tunes, five traditional tracks and a lively cover of Billy Briggs’ “Chew Tobacco Rag.” All in all, Counting Alligators is a toe-tapping record that is a whole-lotta-fun, recalling the spirit of rollicking old-time country jams complete with cowboys, card sharps, Casey Jones and lost loves. – Written by JFelton
