Toronto singer-songwriter Jason Collett’s, Rat A Tat Tat, is a laid back collection of folk and roots rock songs that recall Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Ray Davies, and maybe even some Jackson Browne. Also a member of Broken Social Scene, Collett’s fourth solo album has a little of everything, from whimsical pop (“Love Is a Dirty Word”) and folksy ballads (“Rave On Sad Song”) to the Beatles-esque “Lake Superior” and “Bitch City,” which has a strong Wilco vibe. Collett’s well-crafted songs, musicianship (with backing musicians Carlin Nicholson and Michael O’Brien who also produced the album), and strengths as a lyricist really shine, making Rat A Tat Tat a fun, worthwhile listen. – Written by DBosket
