After the departure of a few band members in early 08, it didn’t take long for Radar Bros frontman Jim Putnam to recruit Be Hussey (bass) and Stevie Treichel (drums) on 08’s Auditorium and their newest, The Illustrated Garden. The sixth Radar Bros. release is the band’s most punchy and lyrically direct collection of songs to date. The Radar Bros are known for melancholy pop, laidback atmospherics and analog production, but The Illustrated Garden throws in a few uptempo numbers and a more spacey country-rock vibe, resulting in an album that is quietly emotional. – Written by JFelton
