Tacoma, Washington band The Nightgowns, first started making a name for themselves as The Elephants. They were known for their live shows that included members Trevor Dickson, Cody Jones, and Jason Freet swapping instruments, drunken stage banter, and other shenanigans. After Freet left in 06, two new members (BJ Robertson and Kyle Brunette) joined the band, which renamed itself The Nightgowns. Their first full-length release under their new moniker is an impressive album of electro-pop songs inspired by New Wave and post punk. The songs range from moody ballads with heavy synths and electro beats to danceable pop tunes with guitar riffs that recall New Order and The Cure. – Written by DBosket
