Pittsburgh-based Lohio’s 2nd release, History, the Destroyer, mixes indie pop and folk, with a dash of Brit pop. Many songs on the album have a light, rambling feel with a sun-soaked haziness that comes through, especially on “Sea Salt” and “Owen.” Hints of the Shins (“A Lot of Nerve”) and Elliott Smith (“A Wound You Hardly Could See,” “I Know Every Street”) can also be heard. History, the Destroyer was released in 2008 by a six-piece led by singer and guitarist Greg Dutton and comprised of musicians from various local bands. Since then, the lineup has changed considerably, with just two original members remaining (Lohio released a self-titled EP last November). – Written by DBosket
