Noise-pop band Black Tambourine may not have gotten its due in the ‘90s, but the D.C. group comprising Pam Berry, Archie Moore, Brian Nelson and Mike Schulman has since been recognized as an important piece of American indie rock history. They were only together as a band for two years from 1989-1991, but in that time, Black Tambourine wrote some great songs that combined wall of distortion with Berry’s distinct vocals and poppy melodies. Those who own their Complete Recordings from ’99 may still want to check this out, as Slumberland’s reissue contains four new recordings – two unreleased original songs and two demos. Fans of current groups like Dum Dum Girls and Pains of Being Pure at Heart should definitely check this out. – Written by DBosket
