British born, NYC based indie singer/songwriter Essie Jain releases her third effort, Until the Light of Morning – a collection of eight lullabies for children. This record captures Jain’s polished songwriting with stories that fade into wispy instrumental minimalism and abstraction. According to Jain, “the record is designed to unwind itself as it goes along, as the music becomes softer and more relaxed, eventually becoming as instrumental as the heartbeat.” Like Jain’s other music, Until the Light of Morning has an ethereal quality, at once both charming and thoughtful, lulling the listener if not into sleep, then into a peaceful state of mind. – Written by JFelton
