Seattle garage-punk band Unnatural Helpers has fun with their second full-length release, Cracked Love & Other Drugs. The group is comprised of artists from several Seattle bands – Dean Whitmore (Intelligence), Brian Standeford and Charles Leo Gebhardt (The Catheters), Kinski’s Chris Martin, Kimberly Morrison (The Dutchess & the Duke), and Kurt Bloch of the Fastbacks. These guys also don’t waste any time. Each song is no longer than 2:30, and the entire 15-track album clocks in at 25 minutes. The songs are hard and fast rock ‘n’ roll, with plenty of hooks and Whitmore’s vocals that are rough, but engaging in each song. Standout tracks include “I Claim It Mine,” “Sunshine/Pretty Girls,” and “Girl in the Window.” – Written by DBosket
