Colorado-born but LA based singer/songwriter and guitarist Patrick Park’s fifth album Come What Will continues his on-going collaboration with producer Dave Trumfio (Wilco, Earlimart) on this second release on the Badman label. Park keeps his touring act spare with just an acoustic guitar and harmonica, but with a voice like Park’s, clear with perfect timbre, you don’t need much else. Sweet, meditative and purely traditional folk, the songs on Come What Will have a touch of melancholy to them, yet there are more upbeat moments that blend Park’s smooth and dexterous guitar work like the heavy groove of “The Lucky Ones” and the rootsy “Blackbird Through the Dark.” Come What Will is a solid effort from an artist that has one of the most genuinely heartbreaking and touching voices I’ve heard in a while. – Written by JFelton
