Chris Shiflett, best known as the guitarist for the Foo Fighters for the past decade, has released a solo album comprising nine tracks of countrified rock. It’s nearly impossible to not think of Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters when listening to the opening track “Helsinki” with its power chorus and catchy lyrics. But given a second listen, the slide guitar and Shiflett’s slightly twangy vocals start to gain prominence, and by the time the second song “Get Along” gets going, you’re thinking “Dave who?” The songs are pretty much what you would expect from a country-influenced rock album, with Shiflett adding in some nice guitar solos here and there to keep things lively. – Written by DBosket
