Texas based heavy metal musician Dax Riggs (Acid Bath, Agents of Oblivion, Deadboy & the Elephantmen) follows-up his 07 solo debut We Only Sing of Blood or Love with a dialed-down full-length Say Goodnight to the World. Make no mistake – Riggs’ latest is a cranked-up, hard-rocking punk/blues infused fest of power chords, but this time he relies more on his voice and melodies to drive the hard edge rather than keyed up guitars and amped distortion. Standout tracks include “Let Me Be Your Cigarette”, “Gravedirt on My Blue Suede Shoes”, the tempestuous “No One Will Be a Stranger”, and an unlikely but intoxicating cover of Elvis’ “Heartbreak Hotel”. Riggs’ genre experimentation, which conjures-up Jerry Lee Lewis, Iggy Pop, and The White Stripes, brings a fascinating sound to the table; check it out to see what you think. – Written by JFelton
