In contrast to their self-titled debut which featured an eclectic brand of 60’s-inspired psychedelic indie rock, Vancouver based four-piece Yukon Blonde’s second full-length Tiger Talk incorporates punk riffs, energy and pacing into a sunny, retro-sounding indie pop. Filled with harmonies and piled with complex textures, the collection of songs are tight and well-crafted, priming the band for a big break. Even though Tiger Talk was recorded in the studio instead of live off the floor like 2010’s release, the album still manages to recreate the feel of Yukon Blonde’s live show, which was a deliberate aesthetic decision for the group. Standouts among the ten tracks include “Radio”, “Stairway”, and “Guns.” – Written by SMarx
