Young Toronto based folk/punk-rock musician Eamon McGrath has issued his third official release, Young Canadians. The prolific musician (with more than 250 singles to his name, many indie/DIY productions) merges the seemingly disparate elements of his quiet childhood growing up in the northern prairielands and wild landscape of rural Canada with the high voltage energy and spirit of punk rock. Contributing to this fusion is the use of acoustic and electric instrumentation which brings a broader sound to McGrath’s discography. While intensely patriotic, McGrath’s pride in his homeland is infectious from the title track – which nods to Sidney Crosby’s game-winning hockey goal in the 2010 Olympics – onwards. Take a listen to hear some of the up-and-coming sounds from this generation of young Canadians. – Written by SMarx
