In 2011, Legacy released a collection of Paul Simon’s solo recordings titled The Songwriter, so it is not surprising that the companion set of Art Garfunkel’s solo material should be titled The Singer. Garfunkel was never a songwriter – only a singer, but a phenomenal one at that, transforming the words of others. The two-disc collection is comprised of 34 non-chronological career spanning tracks curated by the artist himself, including early Simon & Garfunkel tracks: “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, “Scarborough Fair/Canticle”, “Kathy’s Song”, and “The Sound of Silence”, as well as hit singles “All I Know”, “Wonderful World” and “A Heart in New York.” Longtime fans are sure to enjoy obscure album cuts and a couple of new recordings. All in all, The Singer is a fitting retrospective for one of the most influential American singers of the late twentieth century. – Written by JFelton
