Murder By Death’s sixth full-length and first for Bloodshot Records, Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon, continues with the tradition of their previous albums, delivering thirteen macabre gothic Americana tunes. However, unlike previous albums, this latest release is more lush and a little more hopeful, providing a flicker of light to the dark mood. The plucky reverb guitar beneath Adam Turla’s haunted vocals on opener “My Hill” adds an intimate and ominous quality to the track, while “Lost River” is a slow burner, and “Hard World” takes on a Johnny Cash meets punk vibe. Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon is Murder by Death’s most accomplished album to date, capturing all the qualities fans dig while taking their music in a new direction. – Written by JFelton
