Greater Pacific was formed by John Phinney (multi-instrumentalist) and Kyle Kersten (formerly of Travel by Sea) in early 2010 and later saw the addition of friends Rob Smaw (bass, vocals) and Mike Cusick (drums). The beginning of 2011 brought Greater Pacific’s first release, the laid-back Americana gem, The Rainfall EP, and September 2012 brought the band’s first full-length album, Incandescent, a more polished effort that gives the album fuller sound while maintaining the band’s familiar hushed qualities. As its title implies, the collection of Americana and country tinged songs are steeped in a mood of warmth that shines brighter as the album progresses. A few notable tracks are the superb opening track “And You All Remain With Me”, the instrumentally sparse bittersweet anthem “Leave This Town”, and intimate and enchanting “Closer.” Incandescent is stunningly beautiful and easily one of my favorites of the Fall. – Written by JFelton
