Producer and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Wilson’s music is steeped in vintage Laurel Canyon sounds from the 60’s and 70’s and his recent release Pity Trails and Tomorrow’s Child was an exclusive Record Store Day selection this past November. Pity Trails and Tomorrow’s Child EP features just three stunningly eclectic covers, the first of which is an exquisite take on George Harrison’s “Isn’t It A Pity” which features guest vocals from Graham Nash (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young). Harrison originally wrote the song in 1966 while with Beatles but did not appear until Harrison’s All Things Must Pass release. Next is an inspiring take on Happy and Traum’s “Trails of Jonathan” off the 1969 release Time Has Told Me, and finally a richly layered “Tomorrow’s Child” from legendary Japanese psych-rockers Apryl Fool. Pity Trails and Tomorrow’s Child is a solid release that leaves the listener wanting more. – Written by JFelton
