Kacy & Clayton’s latest release The Siren’s Song is the magnificent follow-up to the excellent 2016 release, Strange Country. Their latest finds the group homing in on their sound, resulting in a dreamy twang mixed with a full band Laurel Canyon vibe. The Siren’s Song was produced by Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), who skillfully blends Clayton Linthicum’s trippy guitar melodies with Kacy Anderson’s haunting, filigree vocals over nine self-reflective songs. A few notable tracks include: the angsty opening song, “The Light of Day”; the unrequited love ballad “Just Like a Summer Cloud”; the psych folk song “Cannery Yard”; the jangly Clayton-led track “White Butte Country”; and the scorned lover’s tale on “A Lifeboat.” Kacy & Clayton capture elements of music’s past and re-interpret them in new and fresh ways. The Siren’s Songs will without a doubt be on many top album of the year lists! – Written by JFelton
