For Wanderin’ Fool, Illinois Americana singer-songwriter David Quinn hit the open road on a journey of self-discovery and to rekindle his love of music. His travels took him through the mountains of Colorado to the flatlands and tumbleweeds of Texas and then to the coast of California, all the while collecting experiences and the beginnings of songs that would become his debut album. The LP was produced Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Langhorne Slim, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Margo Price) and features an all-star backing band comprised of Dave Roe (Johnny Cash), Jimmy Lester (Hayes Carll, Billy Joe Shaver), Jon Estes (John Paul White, Kesha), Micah Hulscher (Margo Price), and Alexis Saski (Muddy Magnolia) who together bring Quinn’s dusty honky-tonk record to life with memorable hooks, honky-tonk harmonies, and honesty. The record explores many traditional themes like falling in and out of love, learning to live in the moment and to appreciate the simple things in life. Album highlights include: the instant classic opening track “Crying Shame”; the travelogue of an experience from the road on “Grassy Trails”; the rockabilly infused “Gap Tooth Girl”; the nod Merle Haggard with “Rainbow Stew”; the rambling title-track; the piano-driven love song “In My Dreams”; the honky-tonker “Three Quarter Time”; and the closing cosmic country rocker “Where The Buffalo Roam.” David Quinn’s Wanderin’ Fool is an exceptional debut record that is a great listen with each spin on the turntable. – Written by JFelton
