The Roadside Graves return after a five-year hiatus with That’s Why We’re Running Away, the follow-up to 2015’s “Acne/Ears” and 2018’s anthology “God Makes Junk: 2001-2016.” The somber eleven song set that makes up That’s Why We’re Running Away is a collection about acceptance – giving and taking, coming to terms and denial, and the toll life sometimes takes. Notable tracks include: the first single and opening track “Sit So Close”; the somber atmospheric track “The Cutter“; the lightly country-tinged “I Cried”; the tender acoustic duet “There Was a Way”; the unhurried love ballad “Let’s Get Lost”; the heartbreaker “Hotel Lights”; the beautiful and poignant “Dead Kids”; and the up-tempo “I Wasted My Life.” The Roadside Graves are one of America’s most under-rated bands and That’s Why We’re Running Away is another excellent album from the band. It’s a real treat when they release new music! – Written by JFelton
