IRM, Charlotte Gainsbourg’s follow-up to her 2006 release, 5:55, takes inspiration from the series of MRI (IRM in French) tests the singer-actress had to endure after a water-skiing accident in 2007. This time, Gainsbourg worked with Beck, who wrote, produced, recorded, and performed on the album. Just how 5:55 strongly resembled the work of producers Nigel Godrich and songwriters Air, Beck’s influence is clearly present. And for the most part, Gainsbourg’s soft, wispy vocals complement Beck’s music, particularly on “La Collectionneuse,” and the cover of Jean-Pierre Ferland’s “Le Chat Du Caf_ Des Artistes.” – Written by DBosket
