Falling Down a Mountain, the new album by the Tindersticks, picks up where 08’s The Hungry Saw left off, continuing with the group’s trademark melancholic soul while pursuing a more sparse approach. Again we find the founding members Stuart Staples (vocals, guitar), David Boutler (keys, vibes), and Neil Fraser (guitar) joined by long-time collaborator Terry Edwards (horns), new member Dan McKinna (bass), and a range of guest performers. Falling Down a Mountain is filled with lush arrangements and production while capturing the spirit of experimentation that comes with working with new collaborators. – Written by JFelton
