Eyelid Movies, the debut full-length from Saratoga Springs duo, Phantogram, is a satisfying trip-hop album that is dramatic and engrossing. Keyboardist Sarah Barthel alternates vocals with guitarist/producer Josh Carter. The album starts off with Barthel singing on the catchy “Mouthful of Diamonds,” which sounds like an edgier Metric track. Thankfully, although Phantogram definitely pays homage to bands like Portishead and Massive Attack, it does so without purely imitating them. Eyelid Movies is a very even album – each track has its own unique hook or melody that makes it interesting, and it’s hard to find a weak song in the lot. – Written by DBosket
