Swedish singer-songwriter Tallest Man on Earth (a.k.a. Kristian Matsson) released one of my favorite and highly acclaimed folk records of 08, Shallow Grave, which full of both unrelenting and beautiful Americana twinged folk. Matsson’s latest, The Wild Hunt, picks up where “Shallow Grave” left off, expanding upon the creaky vocals, polished guitar arrangements and heartfelt songs of his debut. A standout is the lead track “The King of Spain,” which showcases Matsson’s howling vocals and blustery acoustic guitar. The Wild Hunt is sure to be one of highlights of this year, while improving upon the Tallest Man on Earth’s unique twist on Americana music. – Written by JFelton
