Portugal. The Man is back with its sixth full-length album, American Ghetto, less than a year after its previous release, The Satanic Satanist. The new album is a mix of blues, rock and folk, along with some electronic noise that gives it a psychedelic vibe. This band from Portland by way of Alaska has released an album every year since 05 with an EP in between. Lead singer John Gourley may not see anything odd about the band’s prolificacy, but it is an impressive output for a group that is self-financed. According to Gourley, the album is more beat-driven than their earlier work and aims to capture a moment in time. – Written by DBosket
