Broken Social Scene returns after five years with Forgiveness Rock Record, an album with the sonic twists and turns we’ve come to expect from the Toronto collective. This latest release is a combination of catchy rock songs and introspective and satisfying complex compositions. Even with a loose number of members from year to year, core players Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning give each album, including this one, the distinct sound and atmosphere that is hard to describe, but is undeniably Broken Social Scene. With just a few listens, it’s hard to find a weak song in the lot, which leads me to believe this is going to be on heavy rotation throughout the summer. – Written by DBosket
