Brooklyn’s Naked Hearts takes indie pop and adds a generous dose of melancholy on their debut full-length release, Mass Hysteria. Strongly influenced by 90’s bands and artists such as the Breeders, Pixies, Juliana Hatfield and Patti Smith, Amy Cooper (guitar, vocals) and Noah Wheeler (drums, vocals) pack a much bigger punch than one might expect from a two-piece. Two obvious standouts are “Like I Do” and title track “Mass Hysteria,” but the entire album is incredibly strong. Alternating turns on vocals, Cooper and Wheeler complement the evocative, grungy guitar lines that sound both familiar and fresh. – Written by DBosket
