Vanish Valley is the solo project of Andrew McAllister (Conrad Ford), who moved from Seattle to Los Angeles in 08 to produce his new psychedelic folk rock sound, which was recently released on his own label, Hard Bark. Backed by Henry Derek Bonner (bass), Cara Batema (keyboards) and Julio Javier Trejo (drums), McAllister orchestrates guitars and thrift store instruments on Vanish Valley’s beautiful debut album which is reminiscent of the Flying Burrito Brothers and Townes Van Zandt. The songwriting is notable as well; simple melodies and compelling lyrics, like on mellow opener “Blood of the Famous.” McAllister is a promising musician, and I hope he continues writing and recording more gorgeous albums. – Written by JFelton
