Cotton Jones is back, just one year after their debut release, Paranoid Cocoon, with Tall Hours in the Glowstream. Comprised of married couple Michael Nau and Whitney McGraw, Cotton Jones play a hybrid of folk and country music that has an incredibly strong nostalgic sound, but manages to also sound contemporary. Nau, with his warm, rich voice, sounds like the love child of Roy Orbison and Lee Hazlewood (oh, if only that were possible!) while McGraw’s much softer voice is a fitting match on “Sail of the Silver Morning” and “No Things I Need (Like Some Time Ago).” Cotton Jones recorded the album in their living room in Cumberland, MD, which adds a coziness and familiarity to McGraw and Nau’s songs. This is a solid, well-executed album that is moving straight up to the top of my favorites. – Written by DBosket
