After years in Boston with the band Six Going on Seven, Joshua English recently returned to Portland, OR and its his life on the road that informs his Americana/roots pop album “Lay Bare Your Bones.” Often described as a modern day troubadour who is inspired by the stories of Raymond Carver, English writes simple, heart-achingly (and at times painfully) honest songs about relationships with bare-bones arrangements. Recorded over eight days with Boston studio engineer Adam Taylor (Portugal the Man, Peter Wolf, The Lemonheads, Irma Thomas), highlights include the “Nickel In”, “River Rising Quickly,” and “….” “Lay Bare Your Bones” is a wonderful collection of songs that are well worth a listen. – Written by JFelton
