I didn’t get a chance to listen to the new Travel By Sea release until after my best of the year list was published, so I would like to amend the Record Dept. Top 25 albums of 2010 list with their latest album Two States and the Blindness That Follows coming in at 4.5. Their third record finds California and Denver based core duo Kyle Kersten (singer/songwriter) and Brian Kraft (multi-instrumentalist) expanding their breadth with the help of touring band members Dan Moore (bass), John Phinney (pedal steel, banjo), Mike Cusick (drums), and Andrew Morrison (guitar). Two years of touring together has made an excellent band even better, building a more creative, diverse repertoire while not forgoing all of the desolation that characterized their previous endeavors. Two States and the Blindness That Follows is not only Travel By Sea’s best yet, it is easily one of the best of 2010. – Written by JFelton
