Springfield, MO indie roots rock band Ha Ha Tonka released an impressive rock record that combines skillfully-crafted songs and harmonies that span from gospel folk to Southern rock. Their sophomore release is loosely inspired by Harold Bell Wright’s 1907 novel The Shepherd of the Hills about an old man who leaves the city for a remote rural life. Novel Sounds recalls the bygone days of the South recounting racial tensions, tent-revivals, loss, reconciliation, and morality. Due out on Bloodshot on June 16th.
