This follow-up to the eccentric Pulp frontman’s 2006 solo debut finds Jarvis Cocker parting ways with polished bohemian pop for a raw, hedonistic sound with help of legendary producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies). On Further Complications Albini’s influence has transformed Cocker into the rocker his disposition always seemed to imply, triggering a shift in Cocker’s attitude and musical outlook while accentuating his observational, bookish pop-culture wit. New tracks like “Angela” and “F–kingsong” showcase the heavier and more energetic sound.
