Brooklyn, NY based indie folk ensemble Good Luck Mountain released their excellent self-titled debut album this past April. The collective / art project, which is led by Mike Ferrio of Tandy (which disbanded after the sudden passing of multi-instrumentalist Drew Glackin), is populated by many talented musicians including David Chernis (Star City, The Damnwells), Ana Egge, Sibel Firat (Pavement, Giant Sand), Matt Mays (The Guthries, Matt Mays and El Torpedo), Konrad Meissner (The Silos), and Jason Mercer (Ron Sexsmith, Ani DiFranco). The nine tracks, which were recorded for the 12” vinyl LP format, largely touch on life and death, in response to and as a springboard from Glackin’s tragic death. Check out the single “Wayward Blues” on the 00:02:59 Records site, featuring Ferrio’s clear, warm vocals as well as steady percussion, fuzzy harmonica and haunting strings. – Written by SMarx
