For whatever reason I wasn’t able to review this earlier in the year, but I’ve really enjoyed Barn Doors & Concrete Floors. An Americana fan and son of a Baptist preacher, New York based Israel Nash Gripka self-released his second album of well-crafted country rock. Barn Doors & Concrete Floors fuses blues, gospel, and roots rock with traditional instruments like banjo, fiddle, mandolin and harmonica as well as the hot licks of electric guitar, all recorded in an old barn in the Catskills. Gripka’s songs are rich in narrative – stories reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen’s heartland rock, including poignant tales of blue-collar life, struggle, and hope. Standouts among the eleven tracks are “Sunset, Regret” and “Goodbye Ghost.” – Written by JFelton
