The Amigos (now Silver City Bound) are a toe-tapping, high-energy accordion driven Americana band that blends elements of folk, country, psych rock, jazz and zydeco/cajun music. The group primarily consists of Sam Reider (accordion) and Justin Poindexter (guitar), who also share vocal and writing duties that draw from a wide range of influences from The Band to The Rolling Stones, Woody Guthrie, and George Gershwin. Their award winning debut album, Diner in the Sky, consists of original tracks and traditional American songs and features collaborations with noted musician, composer, and conductor David Amram and production from Devin Greenwood (Norah Jones, Sufjan Stevens). Highlights include: the soulful “Don’t You Wait”; the intimate “More Than Friends”; the title track; the cajun-infused “Katie”; as well as “The Wayfaring Stranger,” “Hey Joe,” and “California Blues.” Despite only being together for three years, The Amigos have released a first-rate debut, achieving acclaim as the best Americana album at the 2015 Independent Music Awards. – Written by JFelton
