Queensland, Australia’s multi-instrumentalist Andrew Tuttle follows-up 2018’s self-titled album with his fourth release Alexandra – a polished and elegant atmospherically pastoral instrumental album. Tuttle’s Alexandra is a gorgeous meditation on his hometown Alexandra Hills and the urban sprawl that’s changing the town which is expressed through a set of layered songs including acoustic stringed instruments with synth effects and nature field recordings. Notable tracks include: the glowing opening track “Sun At 5 In 4161”; the emotive “Hilliard Creek, Finucane Road”; the majestic melodic number “Scribbly Gums Park”; the pedal steel inflected “Tallowwood View”; and the bright banjo tinged “Platypus Corridor.” Andrew Tuttle paints a vivid portrait of his hometown, filling different locations with a sense of wonder and world-wise enlightenment. Alexandra is a warm and comforting album to listen to in these stressful times. – Written by JFelton
