Missouri singer-songwriter Angel Olsen’s second full-length, Burn Your Fire For No Witness, expands upon the lo-fi melancholy folk of her 2012 debut, Half Way Home. In addition to a more fervent indie rock vibe and hints of psychedelia and country, Olsen’s voice feels stronger and more confident here, owning the work in a new way. Highlights include: the psychedelic rocker “Forgiven/Forgotten”, the country-tinged “Hi-Five”, the lamenting long-player “White Fire”, the melodic “Lights Out”, and the lovely closing track, “Windows.” Burn Your Fire For No Witness is another enthralling album from this up-and-comer and it will be interesting to see what musical landscapes Olsen explores on her next album. – Written by JFelton
