Annabel Alpers is a New Zealander who currently lives in the U.S. and makes psychdelic pop music as Bachelorette. This is Bachelorette’s third full-length album, and it was written in the exotic locals of Oxford, England, Tripoli, Libya, and Millwood, Virginia. Yes, I did say exotic. Alpers uses spare instrumentation on songs like “Grow Old With Me” and “The Light Seekers” to support her ethereal voice, which sounds half angelic, half cyborg. Songs are full of shimmering electronic beats and waves, but also have a strong indie folk sensibility. Most of the songs are quite dreamy, and while she has been compared to British songstress Imogen Heap, Alpers’ harmonies and compositions bring to mind a much, much hipper Enya. Anyone who likes low-key electronic or chill-out music and is looking for something mellow and poppy should check out Bachelorette. – Written by DBosket
