Nashville via Birmingham six-piece band Banditos’ sophomore album Visionland follow their acclaimed 2015 self-titled debut. The LP’s title refers to the defunct $60 million theme park built in the late ‘90s near band members’ hometown of Bessemer, Alabama that was shut down after only a few years. Visionland was produced by Israel Nash and Ted Young (Kurt Vile, The Gaslight Anthem) and offers alternative views on living up to promises and exploring perception and reality through a variety of sonic soundscapes. Album highlights include: the opening track “Fine Fine Day”; the epic sounding “Still and Quiet”; the sultry country-blues song “Healin’ Slow”; the country rocker “DDT”; and the bluesy honky-tonk tracks “Thick and Thin” and “Fun All Night.” Visionland is a straight-up good old rock and roll album that will garner repeated listens on your turntable. – Written by JFelton
