Following the 2010 collaboration with Daniel Martin Moore on Dear Companion – a modern day ode to their beloved state of Kentucky – classically trained cellist Ben Sollee releases his sophomore solo venture, Inclusions. From the fleeting introductory piece through the 10 remaining tracks, Sollee displays a more mature, tight approach that lends itself well to the indie pop sound. Yet the polished veneer does not come at the expense of artistry and experimentalism, as Sollee skillfully incorporates layers of sound from found noise to a variety of strings, autoharp, and even timpani. Inclusions is a wonderful album; check out these notable tracks: “Bible Belt” “The Globe”, “Huddle on the Roof”, “Captivity” and “Electrified.” – Written by JFelton
