San Francisco based singer-songwriter Bhi Bhiman is winning over critics and audiences with his authentic Americana folk music. His sophomore release, Bhiman is an accomplished collection of eleven tracks where Bhiman inhabits a diverse range of characters, from a railcar hobo to a North Korean Prisoner to a Southern redneck. The son of Sri Lankan immigrants, Bhiman grew-up in St. Louis, learned guitar at age nine, and like many teens in the 90’s, was infatuated with grunge pioneers Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Sound Garden. Yet it was Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan who influenced his songcraft, as heard in his touching yet incisive lyrics, which are often filled with humorous social commentary. While his musicianship is striking, his voice is simply phenomenal. Bhiman is a must-have for any folk fan; standouts include opener “Guttersnipe”, “Eye on You”, and “Crime of Passion.” – Written by JFelton
