In a true evolution of story and musical expression, Blitzen Trapper revisits and rewrites a dark vision of life in their hometown of Portland, OR on Wild and Reckless. Reaching back to 2008’s Furr and 2009’s Black River Killer EP (in which the original version of the title track was a teaser to Furr), frontman Eric Earley developed a stage show titled Wild & Reckless which ran at Portland Center Stage at The Armory. The seven song cycle, alternately referred to as a musical/rock opera, was expanded upon with an additional five tracks and released as an album. Filled with classic and psychedelic indie rock, the songs submerge into drug abuse, love, loss, and desperation. While heady and heartbreaking, the latest iteration works for present times, resonating as much as Furr did ten years ago. Yet another resounding accomplishment from this accomplished local band. – Written by SMarx
