Singer/songwriter Buck Meek (guitar, Big Thief) follows-up his self-titled solo record with Two Saviors picking-up where the eponymous album left off with another set of rustic, hazy, slow rambling and thoughtful songs which mix indie rock, country, and jazz. Two Saviors was recorded in New Orleans last summer, live to eight-track tape, and features multi-instrumentalist Mat Davidson (Twain), guitarist Adam Brisbin (Jolie Holland), Buck’s brother pianist/organist Dylan Meek, and drummer Austin Vaughn (Sam Evian) as his backing band. Notable tracks include: the midtempo opener, “Pareidolia”; the spirited toe-tapper “Second Sight”; the quiet contemplative number “Two Moons”; the upbeat alternative take “Two Moons (morning)”; the standout track co-written with Adrienne Lenker (Big Thief) “Candle”; the rustic rocker “Ham on White”; and the twangy, rollicking sequel to “Cannonball” from his previous release “Cannonball! Pt. 2.” Buck Meek’s Two Saviors is a very enjoyable listen – it’s a hazy yet welcoming country album. – Written by JFelton
