The sophomore release from the Baltimore sextet Bumper Jacksons, Too Big World, is a collection of old-timey swing tunes, heartbreak ballads and late-night back porch foot stompers. Bumper Jacksons records feature a variety of instruments from guitars, banjos and drums to more obscure instruments like a suitcase, baby trombone, and washboard. Too Big World is an upbeat and lively album and a few standouts include: the swinging “Coffee Mama”; the toe-tapping two-step “I’ve Got My Whiskey”; the infectious “Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down”; the cover of Stephen Foster’s “Jubilee”; the rambling “Watch It Skinny Woman”; and the New Orleans flavored “Hell Is Hot!” Too Big World is an enjoyable listen with a little something for everyone. – Written by JFelton
