released her breakout solo album Trash Cannon – a sassy confessional say-it-like-it-is collection of honky-tonk songs that address the inequality between men and women. To quote Cannon, “I’m repurposing my inner trash.” Produced by Megan Burtt with additional songwriting credits go to Burtt, Fred Kosak, Robin Schorr, Amanda Ply and Neville Elder. Musicians on the album include Burtt (acoustic guitars, background vocals), Tomeck Miernowsli, Jonah Wisneski, and Jamison Hollister (acoustic and electric guitars), Kramer Kelling (upright and electric bass and background vocals), Scott Roush (drums, percussion and background vocals), and Max Hart (keys and organ). Album highlights include: the opening lampoon on America’s education system with “Going for the Bronze”; a wry barmaid tale “Better Job”; an ode to the regulars on “Barbers and Bartenders”; the honky tonkin’ piano boogie on “Toolbag”; the heartbreaker “Drink Enough”; a brooding rocker about her mom “Mama’s a Hairdresser”; the handclap-tinged love ballad “My Man”; the Dolly Parton-esque “Dumb Blonde”; and a tribute to her relationship with her father in “Daddy O Mine.” Caitlin Cannon’s Trash Cannon is a an excellent and infectious album from an up-and-coming talent. – Written by JFelton
