Asheville-based finger-picking guitarist, singer/songwriter Christopher Paul Stelling follows-up his 2017 Itinerant Arias release by switching things up with Ben Harper producing his fifth album Best of Luck. The two met while touring together and Harper helps Stelling refine the genre-blending LP – an album that mixes elements of folk, blues, soul, and rock while reaching new emotional depths and confidence with his music. Standout tracks include: the twinkling opening track “Have to Do for Now”; the beautiful and melodic love song/lullaby “Lucky Stars”; the driving, gospel-tinged “Trouble Don’t Follow Me”; the powerful folk-blues of “Until I Die”; the stripped-down “Made Up Your Mind”; the infectious “Something in Return”; and the aptly named closing track “Good Night Sweet Dreams.” Christopher Paul Stelling’s Best of Luck is a very enjoyable listen that finds him taking his music to the next level.– Written by JFelton
